Who am I?
Hi! I'm Linus Kolmet, a Game & Level Designer from Heidelberg, Germany.
I've been passionate about creating games since elementary school, where I started by crafting board and pen & paper games. The idea of building worlds for players to explore has always fascinated me, which naturally led me to video game development. I recently completed my Bachelor's degree, focusing on integrating learning theory into level design.
For me, designing game spaces isn't just about creating worlds, it's about engaging, communicating with, and teaching the player how to play the game. I've always had a keen interest in psychology and learning theory, and for much of my youth, I wanted to become a teacher. Now, as a Game and Level Designer, I can apply that passion and knowledge to design engaging and meaningful game spaces.
Experience
BluSum Solutions GbR
In my fourth semester, I co-founded BluSum Solutions GbR with a group of fellow students. I took on the role of Creative Director and Design Lead, overseeing all aspects of game design.
We rented an office and spent six months developing various prototypes. During this time, we also collaborated with Mind Media on a Neurofeedback Serious Game application. In late 2023, I left BluSum Solutions to focus on my career as a game designer, as the company chose to specialize in healthcare solutions.

My Studies
During my three years at SRH Hochschule Heidelberg, I participated in five semester-long game projects and four game jams. In each of these projects, I was responsible for all aspects of game design.
My research focused on level design and its connections to psychology and learning theory. I wrote my Bachelor's thesis on implementing constructivist learning theory in level design. With a new university project every semester, I consistently applied and refined my game and level design concepts through hands-on experience.
Additionally, I attended Devcom and other conferences, such as German Dev Days, every year to engage with and learn from professionals in the industry.

Skills
Rewarding Game Systems
My research in game design, aswell as readings from behavioral psychology such as “Self Determination Theory” help me craft engaging and motivating gaming experiences.
Flipper Floppers branching level’s, coppled with its trophy system and speed mechanics motivate and reward consecutive play and mastery of the same level.
Archeowlogists simple but fun puzzles, coppled with exploration and discovery of hidden secrets create a soothing and rewarding experience.
Communicative Game Levels
I’ve studied level design and how to communicate through it with players, especially as part of my bachelor's thesis. Readings in constructivist learning theory have shaped my approach to level design.
The level’s of Archeowlogist teach the player it’s mechanics through skill gates, visual communication and the structure of it’s challenges.
Software
Unreal Engine 5 & Unity
I have worked with both Engines extensively, adjusting game design related stats, grayboxing levels and i know the basics of scripting.
Blender & Maya
I know the basics of 3D-Modeling and Animation.
Git
Github has been my primary version control software.
Notion, Jira & Confluence, Youtrack
I used the mentionend softwares for Design Documentation and Sprint planning
Microsoft Office
I’ve used Programs like Word and Excel for design documentation and market analyses.
